The RAW Truth Review for 4/30/12

Another RAW, another live review from me. Will the WWE find a way to lessen the luster of Brock Lesnar yet again? Read on and find out!

RAW started with a replay of Cena's promo to close Extreme Rules set to sad music. After the intro a graphic played saying "RAW SuperShow Staring Brock Lesnar."

Time to Re-Negotiate
John Laurinaitis came out to start the show. He said he revolutionized everything last night. He said everyone in the WWE Universe should thank him for bringing in Brock Lesnar and making John Cena a mere mortal. He stumbled over his lines. He said Brock brought back legitimacy to the WWE and introduced him. Brock said last night the world got to witness first hand him bringing the pain, exactly what he was going to do. John Laurinaitis agreed, but before he could go on Triple H's music played.

WWE Extreme Rules LIVE Review

Hello All. I will be updating LIVE tonight during Extreme Rules. Enjoy!

Santino beat Miz in the pre-show. Jobbers gotta job.

They played a hype video for Lesnar/Cena to start the show.

Kane vs Randy Orton
The two brawled to start. Kane hit an upper cut that sent Orton to the outside. Kane went under the ring to get a pipe. Orton kicked Kane, then took the pipe and used it on him. Kane went to the outside and caught Orton with another upper cut. The two brawled through the crowd. Orton took over and ran his knee into the head of Kane. Kane bodyslammed Orton on the floor and got a two count. Kane hit a boot to the head for another two. They continued to brawl through the crowd until they got to the stage area. Orton hit a dropkick for two, then Kane hit a big boot for two. The two went backstage where Kane threw Orton into some crates. Orton threw Kane through a door where some wrestlers were watching the show. Zack Ryder tried to hit some punches on Kane but Kane shoved him off. Kane threw a chair at Orton.

WWE Extreme Rules Preview

This Sunday, the WWE will present us Extreme Rules on PPV. Much like it has been the last few years, the PPV after Wrestlemania is full of rematches. But they have EXTREME gimmicks, so it makes them cooler. The WWE sometimes extends these programs to Over the Limit, but often times they can end at this PPV. I could see Punk/Jericho going to Over the Limit, but that's about it.

I've said in a previous column, but it is PPV's like these that have completely water downed the gimmick match in the WWE. Now, I will give the WWE some credit. They have actually done a decent job making some of these matches seem like they need the gimmick. I think the two best examples are Lesnar/Cena and Punk/Jericho. I would still prefer to see a PPV without gimmicks, but that would result in the WWE actually having to try to book a rematch PPV that people care about. The WWE feels that a gimmick match would pop a buyrate for the PPV. It happens from time to time, but in the end, a compelling storyline is all that most wrestling fans care about.

The RAW Truth Review for 4/23/12

RAW is 3 hours tonight, which usually means 3 hours of torture. But I will fight through it to give you my review here.

What A Bunch of False Advertising
John Cena came out for the contract signing. When Brock Lesnar's music played, John Laurinaitis came out. He said Brock isn't here yet and they will do it on Brock's terms when he arrives. Laurinaitis also instructed Teddy Long to tell John Cena to leave the ring. John Laurinaitis started welcoming the people to RAW when Edge came out. Edge said he came out to talk to John Cena. Edge said he came to talk to the John Cena that was the greatest rival in this industry. The John Cena that beat Edge in his match at TLC. Edge said he doesn't know where that John Cena went. Edge said Cena can't lose to Brock. All Cena has ever want to do was this. Edge said Brock Lesnar doesn't give a damn about anything unless it can line his pockets. Edge said if Cena doesn't wake up then its a slap in the face to everyone who loves this business. Edge said he isn't going to ask John Cena to beat Brock Lesnar, he's telling him too.

The Decline of the Authority Figure

As wrestling fans, it is our due diligence to always complain about wanting to go back to the Attitude Era. It was a great time to be fan. Wrestling was the most popular it had been since the 1980s. Wrestling was also considered cool at that point in time. You weren't made fun of for being a wrestling fan. Today people look at you with blank stares when you say you're a wrestling fan. During the Attitude Era, you could almost say it was uncool to NOT be a wrestling fan. Wresting was very racy, raunchy, violent and full of foul language. How could you not love Stone Cold flipping off his boss and drinking beer, and The Rock coming up with a new catch phrase to insult someone every week. It was definitely a fun time.

2012 NFL Mock Draft

The NFL Draft is now less than two weeks away, so I think its only appropriate to finally do a mock draft. There are people that have been doing these since the end of the season, but to me that is way too early. Constantly updating one and changing it can be a hassle. I think doing a mock draft within a week or two of the actual Draft is just the right time to do it.

The RAW Truth Review for 4/16/12

Fish and Chips? How Delightful!
WWE Title match to open the show. Mark Henry doesn't even get an entrance for a WWE Title match? Yeah, we know who is winning here. Henry started by tossing Punk into the corner and hitting a head butt. Punk hit some kicks but Henry dropped Punk to the mat. Henry went outside, but Punk went back in the ring and hit a suicide dive. Henry regained control and tossed Punk into the apron. Henry charged at Punk twice but caught two Punk boots. Punk then ran the guard rail and took out Henry. Punk tried picking Henry up but Henry ran Punk into the guard rail. Punk fought back with kicks. Henry caught Punk diving from the apron and tossed Punk into the barricade.

The Future of Daniel Bryan

Well, it has happened again. Congratulations Daniel Bryan. You have gotten over with the crowd despite the WWE not wishing you to. And because of that, I fully expect them to screw you up as a character and bury you sooner rather than later. Do I agree with this? No. But if Zack Ryder is any indication, Daniel Bryan better watch out.

The RAW Truth Review for 4/9/12

What Will Brock Lesnar have to say? How many times will people chant yes? Will Lord Tensai finally challenge Yoshi Tatsu to the dream match we've all been waiting to see?

STOP SMILING
John Laurinaitis and David Otunga came out. Ace was here to introduce the new face of the WWE. A man here to lead the WWE for years to come. They replayed Lesnar's attack on Cena. Lesnar came out and thanked John Laurinaitis for bringing legitimacy back to the WWE. John Cena came out. Cena said he never thanked Brock for last week. Cena slapped Lesnar across the face and Lesnar attacked Cena. The two brawled and the locker room emptied to separate them. Each man escaped and got some punches in. Cena's lip was busted.

Brock Lesnar's Return: The Short and Long Term Impact

We knew it was coming. We had read the rumors in the days leading up to Wrestlemania. Speculation was running wild leading up to the event. While nothing happened at Wrestlemania, the next night on RAW was different. The crowd made the night special. And then when John Cena was out there waiting for The Rock to come out, the music hit that we were all waiting for. Then through the curtain, Brock Lesnar walked out to one of the biggest pops I've heard in quite some time. I would say it was louder than The Rock received in his initial return. It was a surreal moment that definitely changed the landscape of the WWE for the coming year, and possibly beyond.

The RAW Truth Review for 4/2/12

RAW Review time. I expect the closure of everything Wrestlemania 28 tonight, and something to happen to set the stage for a Wrestlemania 29 match as well. Maybe a return? Time will only tell...

The RAW locker Room was gathered backstage when John Laurinaitis walked in. He made Santino vs Jack Swagger vs Dolph Ziggler for the United States Title. C.M. Punk walked in. He said everyone still considers John Laurinaitis a huge tool box. Laurinaitis called Punk a prankster, but Punk said he wasn't kidding. Laurinaitis made Punk vs Mark Henry for the WWE Title tonight.

WWE Wrestlemania 28 Review

The time has come and gone, and the biggest event in sports entertainment is now over. Wrestlemania 28 is officially in the history books. I couldn't write live because I had friends over and I felt that it would have been too distracting from both a writing standpoint and a friend standpoint to try and have my focus in three different places. So I will give you my review of everything here.

No fancy or long intros, I will just get right into the Review:
